SUSU’s Advice Centre is also open for any students wishing to seek support in this difficult time and can be found on Level 3 of Building 40 on the Highfield Campus.

Just a reminder: Semester 1 module marks will be released on Thursday 19 February

In General

Your marks will be sent to your Soton email during Thursday morning so please make sure your account is active.

Marks will also appear on Self Service Banner, which you can access using the ‘My Student Record’ icon on your SUSSED homepage, from 12:00 (noon) on Thursday 19 February.

So good luck!!!!

Please remember the Advice Centre can be found upstairs in Building 40 on the Highfield Campus if you need advice about the possibility of appealing your semester 1 results.

Blackout 2014: The results

The 2014 Blackout event – in collaboration with the University of Southampton and Students’ Union – has been declared a success with more than 250 students taking part, and a record amount of computers being switched off by students and staff before the event began – showing a progression towards a more energy efficient University.

The problem: Isolation of older people in Southampton

 

A million older people in the UK haven’t spoken to anyone for a month.

At Christmas, an estimated 500,000 older people will be alone.

Southampton University research has shown the extent of isolation experienced by older people in Southampton.  Local voluntary sector organisations working in this area have confirmed that fresh ideas are urgently needed to make a sustainable difference.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: the Christmas Lights Switch On!

‘Tis the season. Now that we’ve got Halloween out of the way, it’s probably an appropriate time to start talking about Christmas.

We’re pleased to announce that Christmas will officially start at the University of Southampton on 27 November with our ever popular campus Event ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’. The event will take place on the grassy area next to the Redbrick on Highfield Campus. University staff, students and the local community can look forward to a Christmas market, Christmas music and a supply of delicious mulled wine, cider and soft drinks throughout the course of the evening.

Union closures this Saturday

In General

This Saturday sees Takedown Festival takeover Highfield Campus with five Stages of pure, unadulterated rock.
As such, we’re sorry to say that some of the facilities you would expect to be open on Saturday unfortunately won’t be!
The Reception desk will be temporarily relocated from Level 4 to Level 1 (with access to Levels 2-4 for Takedown ticket holders).
For you Rugby fans out there, we won’t be able to show any of the coverage on Highfield Campus but you can catch all the action at your closest Halls Bar!

Thinking of running in the elections? See the sites with SUSU!

If you’re thinking of running in the upcoming Spring Elections but have never been to some of our many sites, SUSU will be running a special free minibus tour on Friday 14th February at 10am to show you what goes on at them.

 

We often have problems with candidates and students at sites feeling disconnected from each other, and in many cases this has been because candidates just don’t know what goes on at the sites.

Help for students dealing with difficult emotions

In General

On Wednesday 27 November Southampton University will be holding an emotions workshop.

Designed to help students handle the way they feel, the workshop will take place on Highfield Campus, 28 University Road from 3pm to 5pm.

The Counselling Service hopes the session will support students in developing useful coping strategies and to gain insight into managing their feelings in order to achieve a greater well-being.
