Our very own student television station, SUSUtv, has achieved Highly Commended at National Student Television Association Awards (NaSTAs) 2017 on Saturday.

The team received the recognition for their entry, ‘Blind Love’ in the ‘Best Writing’ Category at the awards ceremony, held in Birmingham.

The film, written and directed by Tom Pethick, tells the story of a young man, Horatio, as he is forced to make the decision between love and sight as his vision grows increasingly weaker the more time he spends with the girl he loves.

The team were recognised for Best Live coverage for this year’s SUSU Elections Night Live and Engineering student Will Garside was Highly Commended for Best Documentary Award for Radar – Britain’s Shield, about the history of the spitfire and its first flight from Southampton airport. Garside’s documentary has previously Best Direction award at the SUSUtv Student Film Festival.

How time has flown! We’ve nearly reached the end of another action-packed year at SUSU, and what better time to celebrate the inspirational volunteering efforts made by the societies and individuals that make SUSU what it is today than the Excellence in Volunteering Awards 2015 (EVAs).
