Halls Committee nominations period extended until 8PM tonight

We have extended the nominations period for Halls Committee Elections until 8pm tonight, to allow students more time to nominate themselves and take a look at the available roles. Halloween round up: Pimp your Pumpkin and Halloween 2015

Last night saw the Students’ Union’s Halloween extravaganza with events being held in Southampton and Winchester to celebrate the festive occasion.

Students decorated pumpkins at the Pimp your Pumpkin event in the WSA Cafe yesterday evening. There was a good variety of designs, including a Minion pumpkin and even a Leprachaun design, plus much more.

 

The winning design was created by Josh Samways, who won a voucher to the WSA Art shop to spend on materials.

Freshers’ 2015: Starts in 24 hours #areyouready #SotonFreshers

After months of planning, preparation and hype, tomorrow, Freshers’ kicks off with the Welcome Party I and the JCR events to get you settled in! EVA shortlist revealed

We don’t mean to brag, but members of SUSU are amazing volunteers. Alongside their degrees then run JCRS, coach sports teams, raise money for charity and so much more. There’s no way to summarise the incredible work members of SUSU do, but we do have one evening a year where we celebrate the hours of work put in.

#MySUSU – What have we done for you lately?

Over the past year SUSU have been busy at work trying to improve life for every student at the University. As part of the #MySUSU initiative we’re putting a spotlight on a few things that SUSU has done to help improve student life.

From March we began to focus on improving communication between students and the local community, with a community newsletter distributed to local residents and 283 individuals engaged in Student Volunteering Week.

#Mysusu: success in the communities

In General

There are always so many exciting thing going on within SUSU, but sometimes you don’t hear about everything going on. So as part of the #Mysusu iniative we’re putting a spotlight on successes in the communities.

In March the Student Forums launched, which are online discussion boards that were created to foster communication between students at satellite campuses. Additionally, over at Erasmus Park their common room was rennovated with new furniture and layout for the social space, and research into renovations for other common rooms took place!

Freshers’ Week itself may be over, but Freshers’ Fest, which covers the first six weeks of this term, is in full swing. Here’s our pick of the next week’s events:

 

Roller Disco

Monday 6th October | 8pm – Midnight | The Cube @ SUSU | £7.50 Entry (Free with Masterpass)

Get your skates on and come down to The Cube for a night of retro roller fun! There’ll be two two-hour sessions running (8 and 10pm) with different wristbands so make sure you’re on time!

With news that Oli Coles won’t be taking up the position of VP Communities for the 2014-15 academic year a By-Election is being run to vote in a suitable replacement.
