This February will see the launch of the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS) here at the University of Southampton. The NSS is an annual survey of (mostly final-year) undergraduates in the UK. The survey is designed to collect feedback from students about their university experience and make that information available to prospective students in order to better inform them of their university choices. Started in 2010 by a photographer known as ‘Brandon’, the blog documents his mission to meet and photograph ten thousand New-Yorkers. Last week, SUSU Forums launched in an effort to develop a better dialogue with minority communities which are part of the University of Southampton.
The forum which is part of the Students’ Union website aims to facilitate student discussion including feedback linked to what SUSU can do for students. Currently, the communities which the site has been established for are Winchester School of Art, Southampton General Hospital, National Oceanography Centre and postgraduate students.

The Library is about to launch a poll to find out views on their opening hours. The iSurvey poll will take place over the next two weeks 20 January – 2 February and the more people who can complete the survey – the better!
The decision to run the poll comes after the library receiving numerous suggestions from students about how it ought to change its opening hours. Already the Library adjusts its opening hours to reflect demand for example opening longer during exam periods and shorter during the summer.

Last month saw the launch of a brand new fundraising initiative from the Raise and Give team at SUSU, which saw a week of ambitious activity across the whole of the University of Southampton to promote the message Give £1 and Change a Life.
