Following our blog last week, we are delighted to announce that Hindu Society have made it through the finals of the Battle of Bollywood dance competition 2017.
The group were given the opportunity to take part in a Facebook ‘like’ competition, battling it out to receive the most likes to enter the finals, which are due to be held in London next year.

Hindu Society performed at the Battle of Bollywood dance competition at Hammersmith Apollo, London in March.
A group of eighteen students made up the energetic team, who battled it out against 23 other Universities at the competition last month, following three months of rehearsals.
The society are calling for students to ‘like’ their performance video on the Battle of Bollywood competition Facebook page before the 21 April, as they compete to receive the most ‘likes’ to gain an automatic place at the 2018 finals.

Surge Radio broadcast a series of special live sessions at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London on Thursday.
Our student-run station were recording live between 12:00-16:00 via their website at www.surgeradio.co.uk.
Local musicians joined the team to perform live on the show, including Portsmouth-based singer-songwriter, Jerry Williams and Will Joseph Cook, an indie solo artist with several million streams on Spotify.
Surge were offered the opportunity to broadcast at the world-renowned studio, following the discovery of a rare ‘BTR (British Tape Recorder) Workhouse Tape Machine’ found at the station’s previous recording studio at Glen Eyre Halls. The studio … Read the rest

Staff from our Learning and Development team have been invited to present their successful launch of the Union’s ‘A To B’ Project Management programme to the Charity Learning Consortium (CLC) at their annual national conference.
The conference, which will be held on Thursday 22 June in London, will host non-profit organisations from across the UK to network and share best practice.
CLC approached the Union to ask if our Learning and Development team could present a section of the conference to explain how they used the software to engage with staff on the course.

Our very own Southampton RAG team have raised a jaw-dropping £10,352.30 for charity at Saturday’s Megaraid in London.
The student-run fundraising group took to the streets of London in various locations to see how much money they could raise for Breast Cancer Now. They braved the cold weather and early start and shook red buckets to encourage the general public to donate.

This year’s Degree Show at WSA kicked off with Friday’s Private View and is now open to the public in a week long display of talent across our Fine Art, Graphic Arts, Fashion and Textile Design and Fashion Marketing and Management programmes.
The Degree Show is open from Monday – Saturday this week from 11:00-18:00 each day. Come along to celebrate the success of our 2016 graduates.

SUSU has got your summer holidays covered, should you wish to remain in Southampton over the vacation period. The Union is running several discounted price excursions to locations such as Bournemouth, Portsmouth, London, and even Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre to see the Lion King.
