It’s almost upon us again: Elections season 2015 kicks off on Monday 12th January at midday, when the nominations will open online.
To kick off the nomination period, your Vice President Democracy and Creative Industries, Megan Downing will be taking over our Twitter from the moment they’re open for a live Q&A session, answering any queries from hopeful nominees as well as from anyone who wants to know more about the elections season ahead. Your Skills sessions are free courses that are open to all students who want to develop themselves. There are a wide range of sessions from health and safety, to CV writing, to decision making! The development courses all occur during term time and can be booked in advanced through www.susu.org/yourskills
The Time Management Your Skill course that occurred on the 14th October was a fantastic success! Following the nationally awarded success of The Edge’s redesign and rebrand this time last year, the Wessex Scene are looking to head in the same direction.
New Head of Design, Sam Bailey, has lead the new design, which will be launched at a high-profile event later this term.
The Launch Party is open to all, and will be held in The Bridge on Tuesday 30th evening. There will be free champagne available for the first thirty guests, and the redesign will be unveiled by Tahlie Cooper, Editor, and Megan Downing, VP DCI. The dress code is black tie, so scrub … Read the rest

The coming week sees the new team of Sabbatical Officers take up their roles – but their first task will take them off campus, up to SU14 in Bolton.
SU14 is an annual conference run for all the Sabbatical Officers in the country, giving them a chance to network and form ideas, as well as tackle something as a team before they settle into their individual roles back in the Sabb Office in SUSU. Last week at SUSU saw the end of an era, as the Sabbatical team from 2013/14 handed over to the incoming officers prior to the beginning of their year in office this Tuesday.
We spoke to the new Sabbatical team about the handover week, and about their outlook on the year in general. They were all in agreement that the handover week had been a fantastic experience, with Anjit Aulakh (incoming VP Communities) saying that it had been “probably [his] best week in Southampton yet… surreal and an absolute blast.”
