New Safety Buses on the way

In General

As you know, we recently overhauled our brand to become Union Southampton – so what better time to give our Safety Buses a makeover too?!

Each bus in our existing fleet has done in excess of 95k in the last five years, so we thought it was high time we let them have a rest! So we’ve acquired five brand spanking new buses that will be driving our way in the first week of August.

All five of our new buses are 15 seaters and are blue in colour to match the WSA Shuttle Bus.  They are all equipped with … Read the rest

We’ve changed

In General

We have been rolling out our new brand identity this week across our campuses.

We started by changing the buildings’ external signs, before heading out on a roadshow to WSA and Avenue to showcase the new brand and give you a chance to ask us any questions.

Today marks our official Highfield launch of Union Southampton. Please stop by the Redbrick from 11:00 to chat with us about the brand and for an opportunity to get creative by putting your own stamp on the new face of the Union.

We are now Union Southampton, or simply, the Union. ‘Us’ will … Read the rest

Explaining our new brand

In General

For the last three years, we’ve been consulting our members about what we wanted the Union to be, starting with the Redbrick research – a survey about students’ interests – to the brand review consultation we ran this year and the ‘Who Are You’ lifestyle survey.

For the brand review, we ran a huge survey (2,500 of you took part) and held many workshops and drop-ins, which means that 10% of the membership got involved in the process. Hundreds of us attended the successful Ted’s Talks in January to discuss branding and our brand review. Those of us who attended … Read the rest

Unveiling the new brand…

In General

As you may know, for the last few months we have been in the midst of a rebrand. We appointed Manchester-based branding agency Holdens’ to work with us on the new brand concepts using the Ted’s Talks, branding workshops and a survey which received 2,562 responses to gain your views.

According to your feedback, the new brand needed to reflect who we are. So we paid particular attention to the history of Southampton, looking for something as unique as the Union is, and when we came across the story of sea-kale farming and export from the city, we knew we’d … Read the rest

Brand Review Update

In General

The last couple of weeks have been a great step forward in rebranding the Union.

We would like to thank you all for filling out the survey and coming to our various rebrand workshops last month. 2,500 (10%) of you got involved to tell us what you thought and a further 150 of you came to the Ted’s Talk events hosted by Holdens’ in January.

As you may know from our last update, some of the Students’ Union team including our in-house designers, spent two days in Manchester visiting Holdens’ HQ at the end of last month to come up … Read the rest
