In the recent National Student Survey 2016 results, Union Southampton dropped six points to an overall satisfaction rating of 66%. The sector average for satisfaction is 68%, so we are slightly below that. While we had some good news, specifically a massive increase of satisfaction at the Winchester School of Art campus, this overall satisfaction result is obviously disappointing.
We had a high percentage of respondents who responded that they neither agreed nor disagreed with the statement (20%) or felt the Union was not applicable to them (2%). This represents a large percentage of our members who are indifferent and … Read the rest

The Excellence in Volunteering Awards are a celebration of the diverse and inspirational volunteering efforts made here in SUSU. Regardless of whether you are a charity fundraiser, a media mogul, a community hero or just doing a great job running your society or JCR, this is our way of giving you the recognition you deserve.
Do you ever wonder what all the different positions are in SUSU? We want to make things clearer for you so you’re aware of the different officials who work or volunteer for SUSU. We have 7 Sabbatical Officers, 33 Student Leaders, 4 Student Trustees and 13 Councillors, who all play a massive part in the running and improving of SUSU so that students have a better time at the University of Southampton. We’ll be releasing Q&A’s of individual Student Leaders, Councillors and Student Trustee, so you can find out more about them and their role!

We’ve got nine places left on Union Council that will be up for grabs at the next meeting, on Monday 2 December at 7pm.

The places are available for students from particular backgrounds or studying in particular faculties – there are two post-grad (taught) places, two part-time student places and one a mature undergrad place (for those who started at 21 or older). We also have two places for students in both … Read the rest

The University of Southampton is investing around £750,000 in to the project, and we’ve facilitated on-going consultation on the project with our members to help ensure that the development will meet the needs of students … Read the rest

This Wednesday we’re running a FREE Women’s Workshop in The Café (Building 42, Highfield campus) between 3pm and 5pm.
With 54% of students at the University of Southampton female, it’s disappointing that this is not reflected in the elected officers at SUSU and that women at the University of Southampton are therefore under represented in the students’ union.
This workshop aims to talk about key tools like confidence, assertiveness and public speaking, while also inspiring the next generation of excellent females of SUSU. We’ve got guest speakers and practical hands-on sessions, so whether you’re considering running to … Read the rest
