We are launching new community spotlights this year, led by our Community and Volunteering Officer, Charlotte Colombo. These spotlights will cover some of the brilliant volunteering opportunities you can get involved with in and around Southampton alongside your studies. Charlotte is launching the series with a look at Naomi House & Jacksplace.
What is Naomi House? Naomi House & Jacksplace is a locally-based hospice which treats approximately 325 children with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. Naomi’s House focuses on the care of younger people whilst Jacksplace provides care to teenagers and young adults with serious conditions.
Surge Radio broadcast a series of special live sessions at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London on Thursday.

We are delighted to announce that Ladies Football Club (SULFC) have begun to to deliver free football to local schoolchildren across Southampton.
The outreach programme is designed to encourage the club to expand their football provision internally and out to the community. Eleven members of SULFC are signed up to the programme, which is open to Key Stage 2 girls at three local Southampton Primary schools: Bassett Green, Bitterne Manor and Beechwood Junior. All sessions are free for students to attend and are run as after-school clubs.

LGBT+ Society are on the Concourse in Building 42, Highfield campus, today creating a rainbow banner of handprints in support for LGBT History Month.
The student group have rallied students to use their handprints to celebrate equal opportunities for LGBT+ rights.
LGBT+ Society President, Jonathon St Clair-Smith says, “We’re making the banner to show unity within the community”.
Pop down to the Concourse before 15:00 today to show your support with a rainbow handprint and look out for the finished banner, which is due to be displayed at the Union Reception.

The Nuffield Theatre are giving you the opportunity to appear in a professional production of John Steinbeck’s epic play The Grapes of Wrath, directed by the Nuffield’s Associate Director Abbey Wright.
