SUSU to host General Election Hustings Events

Candidates for each of the three Southampton constituencies (Southampton Itchen; Southampton Test; Romsey and Southampton North) will address potential voters at our upcoming Hustings events. All events are open to everyone and are FREE, though you will need to register to attend.

Romsey and Southampton North – Monday 02 December, 18:30 – 20:30 (The Cube, Building 42) Register here

In the Spotlight: Natalie Bennett confirmed as guest speaker

You may remember our Union President Alex Hovden’s excited post earlier this month to announce a new series of high-profile speaker events coming soon. Without further ado, we can now reveal that former leader of the Green party, Natalie Bennett will be joining us on Tuesday 06 December for the first event.

Come along to The Cube from 18:30 to listen to Natalie speak about her political background and Green Party politics. We will also be offering you the opportunity to ask any questions in a Q&A session for the last 15-20 minutes of the event.

“My message to all students is please register [to vote] by the 07 June. That is the date, because otherwise older people will be deciding your future for you on the 23 June. You’ve got to register by the 07 June. It’s your decision. It’s your life. You’re going to have a big long future. The opportunities in Europe are there for you. Low cost flights, free roaming charges, healthcare all across Europe is right there now. It could be taken away from you so get registered before the 07 June and vote remain on the 23 June”.

An Audience with Eddie Izzard – Free transport confirmed

We have organised for comedian, charity activist and ultra marathon runner, Eddie Izzard to talk about his views on the EU Referendum to encourage you to register to vote ahead of the 07 June deadline.

The event, held at Switch Southampton, will feature a talk from the comedian and charity activist, before a Q&A session where the audience will be able to pose their questions for Eddie to answer.
