SUSU was recently made aware of a small number of racist submissions made to the RAG (Raise and Give) sign-up form for a fundraising activity in support of Stop Hate UK, an organisation working to challenge all forms of hate crime and discrimination. Both SUSU and RAG condemn these submissions in the strongest possible terms; the views expressed in them are completely unacceptable and against our fundamental values. We immediately conducted an investigation and reported the incident to the Police and the University.

RAG have announced their core charities for 2020-21 are A21, Teenage Cancer Trust and Robbie’s Rehab. The charities were selected via a student vote on the shortlisted charities.
Every year RAG has three core charities which receive fundraising from their core events, such as Jailbreak and Big Give week.

Which charities should RAG support this year?
Every year Southampton RAG chooses a local, national and international charity to be their core charities of the year. Whilst RAG fundraise for dozens of charities, the money raised from core events like Jailbreak and Big Give Week will be divided between these chosen charities.
This year RAG has supported Medecins Sans Frontieres (international charity), Alzheimer’s Society (national charity), Solent Mind (local charity) and Naomi House & Jacksplace (local charity – Winchester).

Congratulations to Soutampton RAG who have been shortlisted for Best Collaboration in the National Societies & Volunteering Awards 2020! The nomination is for their Fight Night event, which was held on Saturday 30 November 2019 in collaboration with SUABC (Southampton Amateur Boxing Club).

RAG (Raise And Give), in collaboration with SUABC (Southampton University Amateur Boxing Club), pulled off one of their biggest ever events last month with a full bill of boxing, 16 bouts in total, at Oceana.
In the first event of its kind, the fighters, all from our very own university, underwent a rigorous training programme for over a month and a half to prepare for the night. They varied from complete beginners to more experienced boxers, both male and female. SUSU has donated a record-breaking £235,313.63 to charity over the 2018-19 academic year! This total was achieved through student fundraising and SUSU’s Raise and Give (RAG) Group.
The donations have benefited over 35 charities including Help Refugees, Anthony Nolan, Yellow Door and Trinity Winchester. The total was raised through a variety of events and activities students could get involved with, such as mountain treks, bake sales, quiz nights, 10k runs and much more.
