Spring Elections Results: A higher voter turnout than 2016!

The Spring Elections results are in!

Thank you to everyone who voted. We had an incredible turnout this year, with 5,963 of you turning out to vote, making up a total of 43,831 individual votes. That works out of 22% of the student population having their say.

Without further ado, here are the results…

U.S. Election – Results are in!

In General

After months of bitter campaigning, yesterday the U.S. finally went to the polls to choose their 45th President. Last night, as polls closed and counting began, legions of students joined Wessex Scene and Surge at The Stag’s to eagerly await the results. After a nail-biting night, we can now announce that Donald Trump won with 278 against 218 electoral college votes!

A big thank you to Wessex Scene and Surge for their overnight coverage of the results, and to everyone who joined them for the occasion.

In General

The results are in! 4,831 of you have voted in our all student vote (individual voters). As part of our new democratic structure, we’ve run a series of All Student Votes in order to gain your input on a variety of topics so have a look at the results displayed below.

Union campaigns

The “campaign for fair tuition fees” has been voted the most important campaign, followed by the “campaign for mental health and wellbeing”, “campaign for sexual consent awareness” and the “campaign for housing quality”. 2016 NSS Results Announced

In the recent National Student Survey 2016 results, Union Southampton dropped six points to an overall satisfaction rating of 66%. The sector average for satisfaction is 68%, so we are slightly below that. While we had some good news, specifically a massive increase of satisfaction at the Winchester School of Art campus, this overall satisfaction result is obviously disappointing.

We had a high percentage of respondents who responded that they neither agreed nor disagreed with the statement (20%) or felt the Union was not applicable to them (2%). This represents a large percentage of our members who are indifferent and … Read the rest

If you filled out our Grad Ball survey, you’re probably wondering what we’re doing with your comments. We want to keep you in the loop every step of the way…so here’s a quick update!

Results are now in for the WSA Academic Reps Elections, with a record number of nominations having been received. More than double the amount of students put themselves forward for positions compared to last year’s elections, which is great news!
