The festive season is well and truly underway and we have an early Christmas present for you…. act announcements for Freshers’ Christmas Ball 2017!

We are excited to reveal that we will be joined by Patrick Nazemi, Drop Division and Radio 1’s Scott Mills for a fantastic night of live music in The Cube, along with plenty of seasonal entertainment around the Union, including:

• Silent Disco in The North Pole Bridge
• Mulled wine and cider in the forests of Building 42 Bavaria
• BBQ and surf simulator in the tropics of Hawaii Bar 2
• Photo ops galore in Hollywood

You’ll have seen the announcements on Facebook, and pencilled the date in your diary; there’s no doubt about it, Graduation Ball 2016 is on the way.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and University of Southampton alumnus Chris Stark will visit the Students’ Union on Friday to wrap up their student tour across five UK universities.

Wristbands will be available on Friday at 9am outside the Students’ Union pub, The Stag’s, for students to come and see the action as it is happens. There are only 180 tickets on offer on a first come, first served basis, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

BBC Radio 1 DJs Scott Mills and University of Southampton alumni Chris Stark have confirmed a visit to the Students’ Union on Friday 9th October to wrap up their student tour across five UK universities.

The tour, which will also visit Stirling, Liverpool, Shropshire and Aberystwyth, will be broadcast live every day from Monday 5^th – Friday 9^th October from 1-4pm during Scott’s regular radio show slot.

Student volunteers visited the Student Radio Conference in Newcastle from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 April, attending sessions presented by radio professionals and meeting other student DJs from across the UK.

Several different events and sessions were held across the conference, but it was the I Love Student Radio Awards which saw University of Southampton’s student radio station receive praise. Former Station Manager and current Systems Manager Ben Morton was shortlisted for the award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Radio, while third year Geography student Will Morley, who is Surge’s Head of Show Development was shortlisted for Most Committed … Read the rest
