Become a Peer Supporter

In General

We understand that university can sometimes bring about stress, what with deadlines and adjusting to student life away from home. That’s why we developed the Peer Support scheme.

Peer Support is a confidential listening service delivered by students for students. It provides an informal opportunity to talk through any issues that may be concerning you.

Perhaps you are feeling homesick or lonely, maybe the stress of university life is getting to you or you just need someone to moan to. Our peer supporters are willing to listen to you and take time to understand what is on your mind.

Summer Opening Times

In General

With the end of term fast approaching, we’ve pulled together a list of our outlet and service opening times over the summer so whether you are staying in Southampton or just visiting – you can access everything we do.

We will be open as usual until Friday 10 June.

During the summer, the following opening times will apply (subject to change):

All outlets are closed on Monday 29 August due to the Bank holiday. Term begins on Monday 19 September where normal trading hours begin again.

Union Southampton – WSA

  • Open Monday-Friday 09:00-16:00

WSA shuttle bus

  • Runs during term time

Safety Bus is back for the summer term

In General

The Safety Bus will recommence journeys from Monday 18th April between 8pm-6am, until Wednesday 1st June.

The bus works by dropping off students directly to their doors after a night out for just £1.50.

Advice Centre Weekly Drop-Ins

Need to talk to someone to get some advice or just for a chat?

Our Advice Centre is here to give you free, confidential and impartial advice and support on a range of different issues.

But now, you don’t even need an appointment!

Pop in at our weekly Wednesday drop-ins starting today (Wednesday 6th April) between 1-5pm (we’re located to the left at the top of the stairs in Building 40, above The Stag’s).

Cyber-Bullying: What it is and how you can be supported

What is it?

Cyber bullying is any sort of bullying which takes place online. This could be through social networking sites (such as Facebook), messaging apps or gaming sites. In a recent national bullying survey taken by Bullying UK, 56% of young adults said that had witnessed other people being bullied online, with 42% saying they felt unsafe online.

Examples of Cyber Bullying:

Winchester: Track the Shuttle Bus

In General

The FREE shuttle bus service which takes students from WSA to Highfield campus Monday-Friday during term-time has been running successfully since the beginning of term. The two campuses are better connected and students are able to attend events both in the day and evening at both locations.

However, to make the service even better, we have developed a page on our website to allow you to track the shuttle bus while it is en route.
