RAG have announced their core charities for 2020-21 are A21, Teenage Cancer Trust and Robbie’s Rehab. The charities were selected via a student vote on the shortlisted charities.
Every year RAG has three core charities which receive fundraising from their core events, such as Jailbreak and Big Give week.
A21 (RAG’s International Charity 2020-21) – A21’s mission is to abolish slavery everywhere, forever. They operate in 17 different countries across the globe. “Freedom. That’s our goal for every human being on the planet.” Find out more on their website: A21.

Every year Southampton RAG choose three core charities (one local, one national, one international) to receive fundraising from core RAG events. Student suggestions for charities have been narrowed down to a shortlist, and now it’s time to vote on who you think should be a core charity this year.

Congratulations to Soutampton RAG who have been shortlisted for Best Collaboration in the National Societies & Volunteering Awards 2020! The nomination is for their Fight Night event, which was held on Saturday 30 November 2019 in collaboration with SUABC (Southampton Amateur Boxing Club).

Our Southampton Raise and Give (RAG) group have raised an incredible £39,872.62 for charity through student fundraising since September 2018.
This fundraising total includes record-breaking donations from Southampton RAG to Children in Need and The Poppy Appeal. Within the overall total, many student societies donated to The University of Southampton Movember Network, raising a total of £10,421 for the appeal. This put the University at 15th on The Big Moustache on Campus national leader board!

Start spreadin’ the news… This year’s Jailbreak winners travelled an incredible 3,419 miles, managing to reach New York in their bid to get as far away from Southampton as possible without spending any of their own money.
Student teams started off from rainy Southampton at 8:00 AM Saturday morning and raced across the country to catch lifts, trains and flights in a bid to get as far away as they could in 36 hours, all in the name of charity. Our Raise and Give Society, Southampton RAG has raised so far an incredible £38,625.26 to charity in just four months (September – December 2017) through student fundraising activities. This total has benefited over 20 charities, including CLEAR, Mind and AIDS Orphan and is over £12,000 more than was raised this time last year.

Southampton RAG, our Raise and Give Society, was awarded Top RAG at Breast Cancer Now’s MegaRaid this weekend.
RAG was invited to attend Breast Cancer Now’s big MegaRaid, a large bucket collection across London involving RAG societies from all over the country.
Several different RAGs travelled down to London on Thursday night for the occasion, getting up at 05:00 on Friday morning (20 October) to ask for donations for 12 hours at specific tube stations across the city.

The President of Southampton RAG, Charlie Morris, and four outstanding fundraisers from the RAG team were invited to attend a conference and awards ceremony at the House of Lords on Monday 18 September, where the Union’s RAG President 2015/16, Kieran Reals, won the Individual Recognition Award.
The conference and awards were a thank you to the top fundraisers of Breast Cancer Now and a celebration of the hard work of student fundraisers across the country.
