Union Awards: Nominations coming soon

Society Spotlight: Water Polo Club

We caught up with Lawrence Thompson, President of Southampton University Water Polo Club, to find out more about the club and what they get up to – in and out of the pool!

How long has the Water Polo Club been running?

We can find evidence of the first Water Polo game being played at the university as early as 1936, but we know definitely in the last 20 years it has been going strong as a proper society.

Every Halls of residence at University of Southampton (including private rented) has their own Halls Committee (formerly known as JCRs), to ensure that students are given the support they need in their first year.

Try your hand at a new sport at our Sports Taster Weekend

In General

The Students’ Union boasts over 100 sports clubs and groups run by students, so if you love sport, you are in for a treat this year.

The sporting year will be kicking off with our Sports Taster Weekend on the 26th and 27th September. This is a great chance for students, both new and returning, to try out our sports clubs including hockey, rugby, netball and even Quidditch!
