Surge Radio set to broadcast live at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios

Surge Radio has been invited to broadcast at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios on Thursday 13 April.

Our student-run station is set to record between 12:00-16:00 on Thursday in a series of four live sessions, which students can listen to on the station’s website at www.surgeradio.co.uk. The broadcast will include live performances from Jerry Williams, a Portsmouth-based singer-songwriter and Will Joseph Cook, an indie solo artist with several million streams on Spotify.

The studio offered the station the broadcast in exchange for a ‘BTR (British Tape Recorder) Workhouse Tape Machine’ which the station had used at their previous studio … Read the rest

RAG bids to host the 2017 RAG Conference

Our very own Southampton RAG team have put in a bid to host the 2017 RAG Conference.

The conference is hosted in a different Union annually to showcase the successes of the year’s fundraising.

The bid comes after RAG announced their 2015-16 fundraising total, which was an incredible £165, 194.05.

Each year, our student-run team focuses its fundraising efforts on three nominated charities, voted on by you! in 2015-16, Make A Wish Foundation, Student Minds, and The Red Lipstick Foundation were just some of the charities that benefitted! This Week at Union Films: The Age of Adaline and Ant-Man

In General

Union Films, the student run cinema operating from within the Union building, have already shown some great films this week including Terminator Genisys and Ted 2, kicking off what is a great week for cinema.

First up tomorrow at 5pm is The Age of Adaline, a romantic fantasy film about a 29 year old lady who, after recovering from a nearly lethal accident, finds out she is no longer growing older. Starring Blake Lively and Harrison Ford, it’s a sweet tale that you shouldn’t miss!
