Our Student Media Opportunities

In General

Here at Southampton we are proud to have over 300 student run student groups, ensuring there is something for everyone. Among these are four award-winning media outlets as well as your very own student cinema, based in the heart of the Union. Each of these groups are run by a Student Leader, elected in our Spring Elections, and each offer you a range of ways of getting involved, with anything from simply watching, reading or listening, to making potentially award-winning content or putting on a film. Surge Radio nominated for two Student Radio Awards

The Students’ Union’s very own Surge Radio have been nominated for two Student Radio Awards (SRAs) 2015.

Our student-run radio station have been nominated for Best Live Event or Outside Broadcast for their coverage of the 48 Hour Marathon and for Best Newcomer, where Toby Leveson has been nominated for his contribution to the station from 2014-15.

The 48 Hour Marathon was broadcast back in March where Surge raised over £1000 for RAG and the Teenage Cancer Trust whilst broadcasting for 48 hours straight.

Our two July open days are coming up on the Friday 3 and Saturday 4, and we can’t wait to welcome all you prospective students to Southampton.

Firstly, to ensure your place at the open day please book online here. The open days will run from 10-4 and throughout the day you’ll be able to speak to current students, see your prospective department and find out about the support the university can give you.

Success for SUSUtv

In General

Here at Southampton we have four brilliant student-run media departments, who create high quality content throughout the year; and this year they have been even more successful. SURGE were nominated for three Student Radio Awards, both the Wessex Scene and The Edge came highly commended in a Student Publication Award (Wessex Scene for Design and The Edge for Best Entertainment Piece) and SUSUtv won a NaSTA Award for their take on Top Gear.
