Rugby World Cup at The Stag’s

You may already know that the Rugby World Cup is currently taking place in England but what you may not have realised is that our very own pub, The Stag’s, is going to be showing most of the matches!

Today we will be showing Scotland v Japan at 2:30pm and Australia v Fiji at 5pm. Other highlights at the weekend include Italy vs Canada at 2:30pm on Saturday and Australia vs Uruguay on Sunday at 12pm. You can catch our full schedule of events on our calendar.

Congrats Foxes!

Grammy Award winner Foxes set the C1TY TO C1TY Guinness World Record – performing seven live concerts at seven different locations in the UK in 12 hours – with a new Citroen C1 used to travel between the venues.

Starting right here in the Bridge at SUSU, The C1TY TO C1TY title attempt saw Foxes travel from Southampton, where the singer grew up, via Brighton, Guildford, Reading, Oxford, High Wycombe and on to the final concert in London.

The event was organised in association with the charity Trekstock, who support young adults affected by cancer.

The Voice wants you!

Series 5 of the BBC’s hugely successful singing show, The Voice Uk, is on the hunt for people with a fantastic voice. Whether you’re a solo artist or duo, if you’ve got what it takes to get their coaches chairs spinning, they want to hear from you!

One of the team will be coming to the clubs and socs room in the Building 42 level 2 from 11am, on Wednesday on 20 May to see what we’ve got to offer.

What’s this immunology centre all about then?

You may have heard about the new campaign by the University of Southampton to help cure cancer. Their aim is to crowd fund £25m to open a new state-of-the-art Centre for Cancer Immunology by 2017. They aim to develop immunotherapy to revolutionise the way we cure cancer.

Southampton smokers urged to be quitters on No Smoking Day

Smokers in Southampton are being urged to take the first step in giving up cigarettes for good on No Smoking Day which takes place on Wednesday 11 March.

 

While studies show that two-thirds of smokers want to quit, nearly one in five UK adults continue to smoke, including 19% in Hampshire.

The QAA for Higher Education Review

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (or QAA) is dedicated to checking that students in the UK are getting the higher education experience they are entitled to expect. The QAA body works to monitor and advise on both quality and standards in UK higher education institutes.
