It’s been an incredibly successful weekend for our student television station, SUSUtv, who have won an impressive 4 awards at the NaSTA People’s Choice Awards 2017. They were also Highly Commended in another 2 categories.
SUSUtv won in the following categories: On-Screen Talent Award (Tom Pethick), Unsung Hero Award (Dave Williams), Technical Innovation Award (Developing VT Manager) and Content Innovation Award (Women in Sport Live). They were Highly Commended for the Live Award (EU Referendum Live) and the Open Award, for their hilarious piece titled “Where do Snowmen Go in the Summer?”.

Enactus Southampton have secured a place at the Enactus World Cup 2017.
We’re delighted to announce that Enactus Southampton, our student-run social enterprise society, have won a place at the Enactus World Cup 2017.
The group presented at the Enactus UK 2017 National Final on Tuesday 12 April 2017 at the ExCel London. Students Jake Davies, Stephanie Kirk, Amy Chandler, Marcus Earee, Megan Evans, Josh Long and Alexandre Beardshall showcased two of their international projects in a bid to win a place at the prestigious World Cup event.

We recently met up with Jack, a third year Marine Biologist who has decided to eat nothing but food waste ahead of running the half marathon next month! Normally, Jack lives a freegan lifestyle 3 days a week – that is, according to good old Oxford Dictionary, someone who: ‘rejects consumerism and seeks to help the environment by reducing waste, especially by retrieving and using discarded food’.

Founded in 2009, CoppaFeel! is a London based charity which strives toward educating and encouraging women under 30 to be proactive and get into the swing of regularly checking their breasts. Earlier this year, we gave affiliation to our own CoppaFeel! UBT (Uni Boob Team) here at the Union. We are delighted to announce that Ladies Football Club (SULFC) have begun to to deliver free football to local schoolchildren across Southampton.
The outreach programme is designed to encourage the club to expand their football provision internally and out to the community. Eleven members of SULFC are signed up to the programme, which is open to Key Stage 2 girls at three local Southampton Primary schools: Bassett Green, Bitterne Manor and Beechwood Junior. All sessions are free for students to attend and are run as after-school clubs.

Our very own Paintballing Society has come first in the ‘Student Cup’ National Paintball Competition on 25-26 February.
The sixth annual tournament, organised by the UK Student Paintball Network and run by the team at the Central Premier Paintball Series (CPPS) paintball site, was held in Penkridge, Staffordshire, featuring 19 teams across two divisions, making it the biggest competition yet.
We provided the group with £265 to go towards the subsidised travel and the tournament entry free.
