SUSU to host event discussing UCU Strike Action

In General

An event is being hosted from 3pm on Friday 15 October in the concourse (reception area of building 42) looking at the UCU (University and College Union) and why they have decided to take 8 days of strikes from the 25 November.

This will be attended by UCU members working at the University and will be aimed at helping you understand why industrial action is happening and how it might affect you. The event will be an open forum with a Q&A.

Students’ Union-University Relationship Agreement Signed

The first ever SUSU-University networking event was held on Tuesday and concluded with the signing of the agreement that defines how SUSU and the University will work together to transform the lives of every student on all campuses.

The agreement states:

“The University has established that there will be a recognised Union of Students in its Statutes. The Union has fulfilled that role since before the University Charter was established. SCA and SUSU launch Sexual Assault Survey

*Content Warning: Mention of sexual assault and rape*

The Sexual Consent Awareness (SCA) society alongside SUSU, have recently launched a university wide survey to better understand sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape at the University.

The anonymous questionnaire looks to explore the need for “more adequate policies against sexual assault for students, more accessible support systems for students to access, and a harder line on condemning all forms of sexual assault and harassment at University.”

iSolutions Launch Wifi Survey

What do you make of the wifi around campus?

As students, you use the internet everyday to study, socialise, do banking and pay bills. That’s why you should have your say on the University’s iSolutions survey.

iSolutions are asking for student feedback on the wireless internet service, so they are able to make improvements as part of a bigger project over the next year.

Graduation Ball comes to our Union on Saturday 10 June

Saturday 10 June sees the return of our annual Graduation Ball, where we will celebrate our final year members’ graduation at the Union, Highfield campus.

The evening will be your night to look back over your time here at University and make even more everlasting memories.

Our Grad Ball Committee, made up of a group of seven students from across the University, have taken a central role in the organisation of the night, choosing everything from the venue to the theme, which will be revealed shortly!
