Logo Redesign Update

In General

So what’s happened since our last update?

Following the All Student Vote in October where you voted to keep the Union Southampton branding with the SUSU name and the recent ideas survey, we have been busy working on the logo redesign based on your feedback. Therefore, we have been working with our Graphic Designers to come up with a series of logo designs in-house which you will be able to … Read the rest

Rebrand: Are you ready for it?

In General

Since December we have been working on a review and now a rebrand of SUSU.

It’s been quite a journey! We’ve completed surveys and workshops involving both staff members and yourselves and we’ve made visits to Holdens’ branding agency in Manchester to discuss some interesting concepts discussed along the way.

Since our last update, Holdens’ have been working on getting together a set of branding guidelines to help us implement the new brand. This includes how to use the brand in order to reinforce who we are based on everything we learned during our consultation process, which saw 10% … Read the rest

The last couple of weeks have been a great step forward in rebranding the Union.

We would like to thank you all for filling out the survey and coming to our various rebrand workshops last month. 2,500 (10%) of you got involved to tell us what you thought and a further 150 of you came to the Ted’s Talk events hosted by Holdens’ in January.

Keep yourselves safe

In General

It is important to maintain you and your friends personal safety around campus and halls.  Please keep in mind the following safety tips:

  • #TakeAMate – Avoid walking home alone at night, walk with a friend
  • Avoid dark alleyways and always walk along main roads that are well lit
  • Book a registered taxi company (or the safety bus on journeys back from Highfield). We work in partnership with Radio Taxis on the Safe Taxi Scheme, where you can get home safely even when you don’t have any money on you.
  • Notify security at your halls of residence if you see

PGR Committee Guest Blog: “I wish I had branched out and made more friends in my twenties”

In General

Check out the first guest blog from our Community Engagement Officer, Ben Yarnall, who is a member of the Postgraduate Research Committee…

Great news everyone! This weekend marks the first attempt, in my stay at the University of Southampton, of an open postgraduate event.

The presence of a postgraduate society for biological scientists was a great help to me in the first year of my PhD. I did not study here for my undergraduate degree and had no existing friends in the area. Having people to play socialise with from the word go at least distracted me from the daunting … Read the rest
