Did you enjoy your Welcome 2020 experience?

Now that your studies for this year are well underway, we would love to hear what you thought of your Welcome experience.

We know this September was a different start to the year than normal, and certainly different from our usual line-up of events and activities, but we hope you still had plenty of opportunities to meet new people. How to: Cope with Homesickness

Coming to uni and leaving home can be an incredible time, having independence and being able to find your feet in a new environment. But, it can also be a really stressful time and you may be really missing your family, home and friends. During Lockdown, a lot of us spent all of our time at home, with family, and although it may have gotten tedious, it then does mean leaving may be a bit more challenging, even for returning students. Welcome 2020 is coming!

There’s lots going on behind the scenes at SUSU to bring you a fantastic Welcome to Southampton this September!

We know this year will be different to our usual events, but we plan to bring you lots of virtual ways to meet new people, join our societies and sports clubs and dive in to student life in Southampton.

Welcome will be from Monday 28 September – Sunday 11 October.

All our events will be called Welcome 2020, not Freshers’, so they will be easy to spot online and on social media.

Grad Ball: Tom Zanetti and K.O.Kane set to perform at The Cube

Following Tuesday’s venue line-up announcement, we are delighted to reveal that Tom Zanetti and K.O.Kane will be performing at The Cube at this year’s Grad Ball.

Tom Zanetti is most famous for his hit single, You Want Me feat. Sadie Ama. The DJ duo have also collaborated on bangers including TNT, Lose My Head and No More.

Rainbow Love: Southampton Pride is Back!

This Sunday 28 August sees the return of Southampton Pride, the city’s biggest celebration of LGBT+ equality.

Celebrations will commence on West Marlands Road (outside the Stage Door) from 11:00 on Sunday, with live music from midday. The party is set to continue through the evening at the official after party at The Edge & Box Bar.

The Community Parade will leave the Stage Door at 15:00, heading around Guildhall Square and down Above Bar Street to the Bargate.

Free events you can join in with!

In General

As part of our Pre-sessional programme, this summer we are offering you the opportunity to join in with tonnes of events and trips for FREE. This year, we have opened our events to all students, because we believe the more, the merrier!

This week we have held an Advice Centre drop-in and an opportunity to try out Tai Chi and play badminton and basketball, plus much more.
