The Wessex Scene are raising money to print a special edition of their magazine titled ‘Poverty & Class’ and need your help to fund the costs of printing.
This special edition will raise awareness of how issues like class divisions and poverty impact people on a local, national and international scale.
Currently they have raised £500 of their £800 goal, and need to reach £600 in order for all of the money that has already been donated to not be automatically refunded to donors.
Wessex Scene, the University’s oldest student publication, is launching a monthly newsletter for the next academic year.
The newsletter will include several segments including previews of upcoming issues, a ‘Section in Focus’, a ‘Contributor of the month’, details of upcoming events and an update on the progress of the editorial team and publication.

On Monday 07 May we celebrated another year of fantastic talent, hard work and dedication shown from our student media groups at the Media Ball 2018. This year the ball was held at the Southampton Harbour Hotel and was a very glamorous occasion!

The Student Film Festival returns to Union Films this Thursday.
The student-led event is set to begin at 18:00, featuring screenings from the sixteen shortlisted films at the black tie evening.

After months of bitter campaigning, yesterday the U.S. finally went to the polls to choose their 45th President. Last night, as polls closed and counting began, legions of students joined Wessex Scene and Surge at The Stag’s to eagerly await the results. After a nail-biting night, we can now announce that Donald Trump won with 278 against 218 electoral college votes!

Here at Southampton we are proud to have over 300 student run student groups, ensuring there is something for everyone. Among these are four award-winning media outlets as well as your very own student cinema, based in the heart of the Union. Each of these groups are run by a Student Leader, elected in our Spring Elections, and each offer you a range of ways of getting involved, with anything from simply watching, reading or listening, to making potentially award-winning content or putting on a film.
