And your new Welfare Committee is…

On Monday we held the Welfare Committee AGM and I’m pleased to announce the new committee for the forthcoming academic year:

Housing OfficerSai On Tang

LGBT OfficerDavid Wikramaratna

Mental Health Officer Laur Evans

Students with Disabilities OfficerMatthew Higgins

Student Safety OfficerLydia Longman

Substances (alcohol and drugs) OfficerKaty O’Brien

Welfare OfficersJames Skeet and Dan Halford

A huge congratulations to these people and thank you to everyone who ran for positions on the committee.  All nominees were very strong and it was a hard choice for the Committee to make with much deliberation.

There are still 2 vacancies on Welfare Committee – Financial Health Officer and Sexual Health Officer.

Both of these Officers will lead on finding out what the issues are in their area, coming up with the best ways of tackling these issues and leading a team to run events or campaigns on that issue.

If you’re interested in one of these positions, we are holding a by election on Thursday 7th June at 1pm in The Board Room (on Level 2 of SUSU [Building 42]), so come along with a short 30second-1minute talk prepared and we’ll vote to have you as an Officer on the Committee!

If you can’t make the Committee on Thursday 7th June, that’s not a problem just write up a few words on why you’d like to go for the position and email it to me on before 1pm on Thursday 7th June!

If you think you might be interested, but you’re not quite sure and want to know more, please don’t hesistate to email me on

Looking forward to seeing you then and good luck with your exams!
