Union Films Shortlisted for National Awards
After a fantastic year and winning a number of Excellence in Volunteering Awards (EVAs), Union Films, our student cinema, have been nominated for three Film Society of the Year Awards from The British Federation of Film Societies (BFFS)!
Union Films have been nominated in the following categories:
– Jim Dempster Award for Innovation
– Best Marketing and Publicity
– Best Student Cinema
Row Baker, Union Films Cinema Manager for 12/13 had this to say about the awards:
“Getting short listed is a pretty big deal for us; we haven’t applied for a while now! The applications seemed to take forever; most of the work has been down to last year’s and this year’s heads of departments, especially by Rich Blake who designed our application booklets, which look insanely cool! We’ve had a pretty amazing year at UF, which is all down to our volunteers who have gone above and beyond, stretching themselves to their limits at every opportunity! I’ve had a hell of a year being a part of it and I’m really proud of what we managed to accomplish!”
Union Films have also secured funding for a DCI Projector recently which will allow them to continue to show quality films long into the future, at a fraction of the commercial price.
The awards will be announced on 22nd September at the BFI Southbank. Good luck to the whole team!
