Don’t Limit Yourself – Funding Opportunities

SUSUtv got over £20,000 from the Education Enhancement Fund and from SUSU to invest in their studio equipment – new cameras galore!

What difference could you make with an extra £200? How about £20,000? Right now… have a think about what extra things you could do with that money to make your area of passion better at Southampton.

When I was running to be SUSU President, part of my manifesto was around helping students (whether they are campaigners, committee members of groups, student leaders, or other sabbaticals) to think big and not limit themselves. We’ve got some incredible opportunities to do big projects, and I want to make sure that you make the most of them.

Last year at the Innovation Fund, SUSU invested some money into getting a new chef for the Bridge – making such a difference to our quality of service.

Here are the 2 opportunities that you have open to you:

– The G F Forsey Fund – accepts bids of up to £1,000 and is here to improve the provision of cultural and social activities at Southampton.

The G F Forsey Fund helped Surge Radio send its team up to support Emma Real Davies in coming 3rd in the country for the 'Best Female Presenter' award!

– The Education Enhancement Fund (formally Student Centredness Fund) – is for much larger projects that support creative projects that will add value to the student experience.

On top of this, in February, I’m looking to bring back the SUSU Innovations Fund – which will give another way for you to make your projects possible.

So get thinking… what would you apply for? What would be the project that you’d love to run if you had some financial support to make it happen. If I just stand here as President and think of some projects, then SUSU might achieve three things… but even if just each student leader applies for something, then we have 30 projects to help improve students lives!

Once you’ve got an idea, chat with your relevant Sabbatical Officer to make sure that your bid can be as strong as it can be! Think big!

Cheers for reading … stay tuned for more… UPDATES FROM SABBATICALS!
