Wessex Scene reach 3,000 articles!
The Wessex Scene, your campus newspaper has been on a long journey since it’s very first issue back in 1936; back then it even had a completely different name – The Wessex News. You can see an image of the 1 penny publication on the right.
The magazine has existed on its current website since September 2009, focusing on a range of topics from cutting-edge, student focused news, union politics, issues and features on student life, updates on sports events and much more. Most recently, the team have written articles about a library bomb hoax, Robin Thicke, and a grisly scene on a Southampton beach
Over the past 52 months, the team has thus averaged around 13 articles every week, showing the consistency and dedication of editorial teams from year to year.
Sam Everard, the Wessex Scene Editor had this to say:
‘I’m incredibly proud that we’ve reached 3000 published articles. It’s the culmination of years of hard work across multiple editorial teams, and I’d like to thank all of our writers and editors past and present who have made this possible. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we reach the next milestone!’
Congratulations to everyone associated with the magazine on reaching this landmark!
