Bringing down the price of the Grad Ball – £39

grad ball 2014

SUSU has just had its January budget review, and I’m happy to announce that this means we’ve been able to bring down the price of the Graduation Ball 2014 to £39 (a reduction of over 20%) – and note that this will be done without spending a penny less on the event.

We’ve had a good year for our events. We had a huge number of engaged Freshers, a much stronger attendance at our alternative weekly events (like Laughter Lounge), and we’re no longer having to subsidise a weekly club night. We’re also lucky enough to have a venue (Oceana) with low overhead costs.

As a charity, when students spend more in SUSU’s commercial areas, we’re then able to reinvest this surplus into funding other activities or lowering the costs to our students. In this instance, we’ve made the decision that graduating students would benefit most from a direct reduction in the price of their Graduation Ball.

Between now and the 3rd March, when tickets go on sale, we’ll be releasing all the important information about the night; from acts to drinks deals, theme of the rooms to the outside attractions. We want to ensure that students have all the information they need for when tickets go on sale.

Also, like last year, we shall be operating the split-payment system, so students can pay just £20 for their tickets this term, and then pay the remaining £19 later in the year. We run this system to ensure that students on tighter budgets can still afford their graduation ball.
