Sports Participation Officer Elections and AGM!

We’re on the lookout for a Sports Participation Officer for next year, and if you think this could be you, nominate yourself now.

The Sports Participation Officer is a Student Leader-level position responsible for improving participation in sport for students who don’t get involved at the moment, including those from under-represented backgrounds (such as students with disabilities).

You’ll sit on Sports Development Zone Committee, chair the Sports Participation Committee, set the strategic direction for Team Southampton next year alongside the VP Sports Development, and also have an important role handing out funding to sports clubs and societies.

If you’re thinking about getting more involved in the Union (and perhaps even being next year’s VP Sports Development!) then this is a great role for you.

You’ll get full training and support and you’ll have the ability to make a real difference to students’ lives.

Nominate yourself now at www.susu.org/electionsnominations close Monday 1st June at 12pm.

Voting opens soon thereafter and there will be an opportunity to give a short speech during the Sports Development Zone AGM on Wednesday 3rd June at 11am.

Voting will close on Wednesday 3rd June at 12pm.

Please note this is a cross campus election – ANYONE CAN RUN!! There is a short turn around for the nominations mainly due to the need to have an elected officer ready for when the committee will be elected.

Sports Development Zone AGM

We are pleased to invite you to the Sports Development Conference and AGM this Wednesday (3rd June) in the Cube. Please arrive at 10.50 for an 11am start.

The meeting will cover several things including Funding, Bookings and Focus Sports.

There will also be an election of the Athletic Union Committee, the brand new Sports Elections-Logo-518x540Participation Committee and speeches from those running for Sports Participation Officer. To find out what category your club fits into please see the list here . If you are interested in running for one of the positions in either committee, you may want to prepare a 1 minute speech advising why you would be good for the role.

We expect to see two members from each club attending. Please let us know if you will not be attending by emailing aupres@soton.ac.uk.
