My End of the year BLOG
Given that this isn’t really my final blog post as I’m returning as your VP Student Communities next year I’ll leaving the emotional goodbye’s for then 🙂
In all seriousness though it’s been a brilliant year not just for myself and the Student Communities Zone but also for the Students’ Union as well. This year we’ve achieved a lot of amazing milestones, it’s without doubt been the best year of my life so far and I’m sure the next one will be even better and blow it right out of the water.
I’ll make it short and sweet and just touch on what I think have been the most important achievements for the zone. I’ll start off by saying that this time round we’ve completely changed the way we recruit Freshers Reps by introduction an assessment centre process instead of a blind application process which has not only helped streamline the selection process but also get the message of what we want them to do/get out of the role.
The other thing I’m quite proud of is the increased presence we have had at our Satellite Campuses, particularly at the WSA, we’ve seen a significant increase in the support and activities that we run there, we started off with the RE-Union event where we gave students a chance to vent bout their expectations from the SU and feedback in what they want from us, taking that on board we’ve held a whole host of events from the stress less fest week, Quiz and Curry to the end of the year barbeque and we fully intend on adding to it next year.
Coming to the events now, we’ve had absolutely smashing events and campaigns come out from Student Communities be the JCR Awards night, the international cultural night, the global Café, all the cultural festivals from the likes of Holi, Diwali, Chinese New Year or the week-long celebrations by the Malaysian Society.
Essentially a lot of good things have come out of this year and I can’t wait to build on them next year 🙂
Finally I’d like to thank anyone and everyone who’d helped me achieve what I have this year.
