Black History Month




Black History Month is a time to recognise and celebrate the important contributions that people of African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean heritage make to humanity – raising awareness of different cultures and communities.

We’re celebrating the month through a series of absolutely fantastic events, collaborating with student groups such as the African Caribbean Society. These events and activities are open to anyone, so please come along and join in with our celebrations 😀

Society Performance Showcase

20th October at 12:00 – The Concourse (Building 42) SUSU

Performances from student societies showcasing their culture.

Free Screening of 42

25th October at 14:15pm – Union Films


A free screening of 42 (2013) telling the story of Jackie Robinson, the first modern African American player in the baseball Major League.

Caribbean Culture Night

28th October, 20:00 – The Bridge

Join us for a relaxed evening in The Bridge celebrating Caribbean culture with a steel band and cocktails.
