University Mental Health Day 2016 (Guest Blog)
Student Minds invite you to their events for University Mental Health Day on Thursday 3rd March.
Student Minds is a student mental health charity that campaigns to end the stigma surrounding mental health on campus and uses peer support to help improve your mental wellbeing. Positive Minds is a subgroup within the charity that focuses mainly on individual’s who suffer from low mood and mild depression; it runs peer-led sessions that aim to improve students’ mental health and are pro-recovery.
Film screening and workshop
11:00 to 13:00 in the Clubs and Socs Room, Level 2 of Building 42
Join the theatre company ‘Hart’ as they showcase their original film ‘Normal?’ followed by an interactive session. It focuses on the perspectives of those who suffer from mental health problems themselves as well as the perspectives of carers/loved ones. The session will provide information about how best to support those who suffer from mental health problems and it aims to help break the stigma surrounding mental health. Entrance to the workshop is just £1 and can be paid on the door.
Free meditation taster session
15:00 to 16:00 in Lecture Theatre B, Building 46
Join the Buddhist Meditation Society for a free taster session! Meditation is the perfect way to de-stress, relax and boost your wellbeing so please come along and give it a go.
