Returning Officer Statement of Results

As Returning Officer for the Autumn 2016 All Student Vote, I hereby give notice of the following results:

Quoracy: 10% of student population, calculated from December 2015 figure (22,834) = 2,283

 

Do you prefer the name SUSU or Union Southampton (Us.)?

Votes Cast: 4735

SUSU received 3328 votes (70%)

Union Southampton (Us.) received 1407 votes (30%)

 

Do you prefer the old SUSU branding or the new Us. branding?

Votes Cast: 4711

Old SUSU branding received 2154 votes (46%)

New Us. branding received 2557 votes (54%)

 

Following the introduction of the £9,000+ fees, do you consider yourself to be at University primarily to learn or to attain a qualification?

Votes Cast: 4580

To learn received 1911 votes (42%)

To attain a qualification received 2669 votes (58%)

 

The Union is running these four campaigns this year, which one is most important to you?

Total valid votes: 4646

NOTE: As this vote was run using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system, the results are a little complicated to display. Percentages are not included.

Round 1:

Campaign for student housing quality received 735 votes

Campaign for fair tuition fees received 1727 votes

Campaign for sexual consent awareness received 745 votes

Campaign for mental health and wellbeing received 1439 votes

Round 2:

Campaign for fair tuition fees received 2046 votes

Campaign for sexual consent awareness received 894 votes

Campaign for mental health and wellbeing received 1696 votes

Round 3: 

Campaign for fair tuition fees received 2329 votes

Campaign for mental health and wellbeing received 2302 votes

 

That concludes the statement of results for the All Student Votes.
